Purpose
Specifically, they are looking for programs that:
- Ensure residents of elder care facilities are not denied services because of inability to pay.
- Provide supportive services for seniors in institutional, community-based, or home-based settings.
- Offer education and training for eldercare workers to enhance their abilities to provide quality care.
- Develop and/or distribute assistive technology to enable improved quality of life. This might include medical alerts, medication management tools, vision enhancements, etc.
- Prevent elder abuse and neglect.
- Help seniors meet basic needs such as food, clothing, and shelter.
- Provide community-based medical care/health care for seniors.
- Provide direct care and assistance to people who have Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
Funding Information
Generally, the Pittsburgh Foundation provides one-year grants, with an average grant size between $50,000 and $75,000. However, multi-year grants up to $100,000 will be considered.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for grantmaking support, your nonprofit organization must be:
- Located within Allegheny County or demonstrate service to Allegheny County residents.
