The Schenectady Foundation Grant Program 2022 – New York

Dated: March 8, 2022

The Schenectady Foundation is seeking applications for its Grant Program to benefit the health and well-being of people who live and work in Schenectady County.

Donor Name: The Schenectady Foundation

State: New York

County: Schenectady County (NY)

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline (mm/dd/yyyy):

  • Emergent Needs & Pandemic Recovery: 04/26/2022
  • Neighborhood Revitalization: 05/31/2022
  • Equitable Access to Healthy Food: 09/13/2022
  • Thriving Neighborhoods Challenge: 10/04/2022

Grant Size: $3,000 – $6,000

Details:

The Foundation has set its top priorities around the focus areas of Equitable Access to Healthy Food and Neighborhood Revitalization. Grants are available in each category, as well as for projects related to pandemic recovery and other emerging ideas that warrant consideration. Available, too, are Micro Grants that serve to fund smaller programs and pilot projects.

The Foundation aims to support organizations’ projects and programs, with a focus on meaningful, measurable outcomes. Regardless of the type of request, applicants must establish their ability to complete and sustain projects beyond the Foundation’s support.

The Foundation looks more favorably upon grant proposals that leverage other sources of funding as well, rather than relying solely on the Foundation’s award to fully fund a project.

Funding Information

The Foundation offers a “Micro Grant” program to address requests of $10,000 or less. The Micro Grant program offers an abbreviated application process for smaller grants. Organizations might consider applying for a Micro Grant for planning, research, and development of future projects; or to get pilot projects off the ground in anticipation of being able to bring the program to scale in the future. While the maximum Micro Grant award is $10,000, the majority of them fall into the $3,000 – $6,000 range.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be non-profit corporations registered with the New York State Office of Charities Registration, and designated as a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization by the IRS.
  • Applicants must primarily serve Schenectady County residents.
  • Additionally, local governments (counties, cities, towns, or villages) are generally ineligible to receive grant funding from the Foundation.
