The annual Environmental Partnership Awards were established in 1991, as an Earth Day project of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Environmental Partners. In the time since, they have become a highly coveted honor. Their intent now, as it was then, is to salute those who bring diverse groups and individuals together to solve problems of common interest and to recognize those who use partnering as their primary method to achieve environmental progress.
How are honorees selected?
This year’s honorees will be selected by a distinguished panel of judges. The panel always includes representatives from the Partners, as well as other individuals with regional environmental interests, including past honorees. In evaluating nominations, the judges consider the following:
- Number, quality, and effectiveness of partnerships formed to achieve goals;
- Overall quality of the application;
- Impact on the environment and quality of life;
- Extent to which nominee/project is above and beyond usual work expectations; and
- Extent to which activity serves as a model of partnering for others.
Eligibility Criteria
The Partnership Awards are open to any organization, individual, company, or project that has had a positive impact on the environment in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Nominees for the awards must be located within the following counties: Bradford, Carbon, Columbia, Lackawanna, Lehigh, Luzerne, Monroe, Montour, Northampton, Northumberland, Pike, Schuylkill, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Wayne, and Wyoming. They have honored individuals, groups, and projects involved in agriculture, forestry, business, industry, education, science, environmental awareness, community service, and government, among others.
Who may nominate?
Individuals, groups, business or organizations may nominate themselves or a third party can make nominations.
