Natural Resources Conservation Service: Tennessee Collaborative Outreach and Education

The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), an agency under the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), is announcing the availability of funding for the purpose of leveraging NRCS resources is to encourage collaboration with partners in providing farm bill program outreach and education to historically underserved groups.

Details:

The purpose of these Conservation Outreach and Education Agreements is to accomplish the following:

  • Increase the delivery of conservation assistance to historically underserved farmers and ranchers through a combination of program outreach and education.
  • Ensure equity in the delivery and implementation of all NRCS programs and services.
  • Educate and inform NRCS employees regarding the unique nature of working with Historically Underserved and tribal audiences.
  • Educate and inform existing NRCS customers and potential new NRCS customers on NRCS conservation programs available to them through the 2018 Farm Bill using plain, understandable language.
  • Tailor Farm Bill outreach messages and products to specific audience needs, for example providing translated materials, graphically enhanced materials, and readable, common-sense messaging.
  • Build the capacity of local partners to develop and implement effective outreach projects to continue increasing participation and equity among historically underserved farmers and ranchers.
  • Increase by 10 percent the number of eligible program applications received from historically underserved populations using FY 2021 application data as the baseline.
  • Value of Conservation: Highlight the value of private lands conservation and the important role agricultural producers play in voluntarily conserving the nation’s resources.

Funding Information

The estimated funding floor for this opportunity is $25,000.00, and the estimated funding ceiling is $75,000.00.

Grant Period

Projects may be between one (1) and three (3) years in duration. Applicants should plan their projects based on an estimated project start date of September 15, 2022.

Eligibility for this opportunity is limited to the following entity types:

  • For-profit organizations other than small businesses
  • Independent school districts
  • Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS (other than institutions of higher education)
  • Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS (other than institutions of higher education)
  • Private institutions of higher education
  • Public and State-controlled institutions of higher education
  • Small businesses
  • Special district governments
  • State governments
