The Town of Morrisville received a grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration (U.S. SBA) to provide pandemic relief to small businesses, and design ongoing Town supported programming to serve them. To develop programming tailored to the needs of Morrisville businesses, staff conducted outreach through surveys and visits and took away that marketing is the biggest need. The commercial storefront is the first point of contact for a customer and may include signage, landscaping, awnings, and other physical elements that help a business market itself.
Funding Information
Qualifying projects are eligible for a grant of between $2,500 and $5,000 per public facing store front (or public facing side of property) on a 50%/50% matching basis while the $20,000 grant funds are available.
Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must be the owner or tenant of a building/property located within the Town of Morrisville’s corporate limits.
- If the applicant is a tenant, they must have the owner’s written permission, notarized, and attached to the application. Tenant/Owner Form available.
- Store front improvement grants are made on a first-come-first-served basis until $20,000 in total grant funds are exhausted.
- The applicant property must be classified as non-residential in zoning and use.
- Must be a “small business” as defined as not having more than one location outside of the Triangle region (Wake, Orange, and Durham County).
