City of Gaithersburg Youth Prosperity Grants 2025 – Maryland

Dated: February 1, 2024

The City of Gaithersburg Community Service Division, in coordination with the Educational Enrichment Committee (EEC) and Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is accepting Youth Prosperity Grant.

Donor Name: City of Gaithersburg

State: Maryland

City: Gaithersburg

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline: 03/01/2024

Size of the Grant: Not Available

Grant Duration: Grant Duration Not Mentioned

Details:

To help meet the promise of opportunity for all children and youth in Gaithersburg, the City is seeking not-for-profit 501(c)(3) and 509(a)(1) agencies to partner with specific 10% City schools in the Gaithersburg area and apply for a FY25 Youth Prosperity Grant. For over 25 years, the design of this grant program has funded qualifying agencies that provide much needed school-based programming. In order to keep up with the alignment of needs seen throughout the City’s youth community, the EEC is looking for organizations who also provide programming with broader social engagement and youth self-care support outside of school and home.

Areas of Emphasis

For healthy learning and development to take place, students must feel safe and supported across all domains of development. These include academic, cognitive, social-emotional, ethical, identity, and physical and mental health (Learning Policy Institute, 2023). Healthy development is therefore more likely to happen when learning environments are structured in ways that support the whole child and are responsive to students’ strengths and needs.

To accomplish this, the City of Gaithersburg is looking for programs that address a multitude of these areas and that overlap with developmental needs:

  • Support relationship-centered learning environments that facilitate relational trust between students, staff, and families/caregivers.
  • Foster safe and inclusive learning environments, in which all students feel valued and in which positive relationships can be created.
  • Establish integrated support systems that use an asset-based approach to address social, emotional, academic, and physical and mental health needs; develop partnerships; and provide individualized supports that meet the holistic needs of students.
  • Provide high-quality expanded learning time that mitigates opportunity gaps, builds upon students’ strengths, and nurtures positive relationships.
  • Promote rich learning experiences that provide challenging curriculum in all content areas and support the development of deeper learning skills, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and social-emotional competencies; and draw on culturally and linguistically responsive approaches.
  • Support authentic systems of assessment that are culturally and linguistically responsive, provide students with opportunities to demonstrate their learning and development in a variety of ways, and are designed to measure growth and progress.
  • Adopt a comprehensive accountability system designed for continuous improvement that includes indicators of students’ opportunities to learn, the quality of teaching and learning experiences, students’ contexts and school climates, and how well they are prepared for postsecondary success.
  • Strengthen distance and blended learning models that are equity focused, offer personalized instruction, and take advantage of the different settings in which learning can take place.

Parameters

Programs awarded priority funding:

  • Provide clear and committed collaboration partnerships with City of Gaithersburg divisions, including Community Services and Sports & Youth Services, and the Gaithersburg Youth Opportunities Coalition (GYOC).
  • Commit to equitable and creative outreach.
  • Engage students within all cultural communities and various populations.

Eligibility Criteria

Not for profit 501(c)(3) and 509(a)(1) agencies providing school-based youth programming in elementary, middle or high schools with 10% or more or 150 City of Gaithersburg residents are eligible to apply.
