Town of Basalt Public Arts Commission Grant 2024 – Colorado

The intent of the 2024 BPAC grant program is to support local artists and nonprofit organizations through funding public arts and cultural opportunities while encouraging appreciation, education, and participation in the arts among members of the Basalt community.

Details:

Grant funding consideration shall include the creation of public art, art-related educational opportunities, and/or community events in the areas of visual, theatrical, literary, performance, musical and other forms of art. Proposals must have a distinct presence in Basalt and provide a recognized benefit to the Basalt community.

Categories

  • New Public Projects and Programs. This category includes proposals for public projects and programs that are entirely new, or that may exist elsewhere, but are new to Basalt.  Other considerations for successful applications include:
    • Projects or Programs must commence within the 2024 calendar year.  Projects/Programs that will be completed within the 2024 calendar year shall be prioritized.  Projects that may not be fully accomplished within the calendar year but are found to be compelling shall be considered for funding.  All Projects/Programs must be complete prior to the next BPAC grant funding cycle.
    • Prioritize creating connections – organizations that work in tandem and create partnerships. For example, a program within the library or schools, etc.
  • Recurring Public Art Programming. This category includes public Projects/Programs that have taken place in previous years in Basalt, and which may or may not have been funded by BPAC in the past. Other considerations for successful applications include:
    • Prioritize creating connections – organizations that work in tandem, for instance a program within the library or schools, etc.
    • Demonstrate success with previous years’ Project/Program and how its continuation within Basalt is a benefit to the community.
    • Those public Projects/Programs that have received previous funding from BPAC in any other year shall demonstrate how the public Project/Program has changed since its inception, and how BPAC funding will be utilized to enhance the proposed Project/Program

Funding Information

Grants are available in amounts up to $12,000.

Uses of Funds 

  • BPAC Grant funding may be used for one-time or continuing public arts Projects and Programs that have a measurable benefit to the general public or a defined group within Basalt (e.g. school students).
  • Funding requests may include a lesser operational component; however, requests made strictly for operations will not be considered.
  • Grants may be applied toward the creation of interactive artworks or the development of community programs or organizations that support the creation of art in the areas defined in Item A, above. Funding may be used in part to cover the cost of the materials necessary to fulfill the proposed vision.
  • BPAC grant funding requests will be considered for both new arts projects and programs as well as to support existing arts projects and programming within Basalt.
