The Cudahy City Council is dedicated to promoting entrepreneurship in the community and is glad to help small businesses. While street vending has always had a prominent place in Los Angeles County, street vendors continue to face immense obstacles to formalize their businesses including obtaining the required permits and limited access to capital. Additionally, acquiring the necessary mobile food facility permits and purchasing a cart to meet public health requirements can be costly.
The City of Cudahy will be awarding one (1) applicant a mobile food cart which meets the qualifications of the County of Los Angeles Public Health Department, the cost of necessary mobile food facility permits, and insurance costs for the first year of operation.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a current resident of the City of Cudahy. You must present a valid California Identification (Driver’s License or I.D.). A copy of the ID must be submitted with the application and, if awarded, they will need to be presented to receive the award. Alternatively, two forms of proof of residency in Cudahy are accepted.
- A copy of a valid social security card or individual taxpayer identification number (ITIN) must be submitted with the application and if awarded, they will need to be presented to receive the award.
- Copies of your last (2) W-2 forms
- Applicant must be an independent/standalone business.
- Applicant must be committed to pursuing all required mobile food facility permits in order to be awarded.
- Applicant must review the City’s Sidewalk Vendor Operating Requirements (Article XXIII- Attachment A) and shall commit to adhere to all operating requirements set forth in the Article.
- Applicant must commit to vend in a City approved location
- City of Cudahy Employees who are residents are ineligible to apply.
