The funding can also help remove financial barriers for youth by covering costs like registration fees and equipment expenses.
This Request for Applications (RFA) aims to provide funding for training youth sports coaches, parents, and volunteers in important areas like social emotional learning and trauma sensitive practices. Trained coaches play a crucial role in disrupting violence in communities and promoting essential life skills for youth. The funding can also help remove financial barriers for youth by covering costs like registration fees and equipment expenses. Additionally, teams can improve youth safety through safety training and background checks for coaches or volunteers.
Youth Sports Training & Capacity Grant
- Small Team or Program (12 to 20 youth) can apply for up to $25,000.
- Medium Team or Program (21 to 50 youth) can apply for up to $50,000.
- Large Teams (over 50 youth) can apply for up to $75,000.
- Joint Application (where sports teams and training providers collaborate) up to $100,000.
Special Considerations:
- Priority will be given to training sessions that serve Black, Latine, and tribal communities.
- Priority will be given to community (typically volunteer) coaches who are not receiving a salary paid from another institution.
- Tribal organizations and tribal governments do not need to register with CRP’s by-and- for registry.
- All grantees must submit a final report to Commerce summarizing their activities and outcomes.
Grant Period
The period of performance of any contract(s) resulting from this RFA is tentatively scheduled to begin on or about July 8, 2024 and to end on June 30, 2025.
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum qualifications include:
- Tribal government or tribal-led community based organizations; OR
- Licensed to do business in Washington or submit a statement of commitment that it will become licensed in Washington within thirty (30) calendar days of being selected as the Apparently Successful Applicant; AND
- Be registered as a Community Reinvestment Project (CRP) by-and-for organization, or be contractually partnered with a registered CRP by-and-for organization to deliver the Objectives and Scope of Work identified in this NOFA.
