Infant Mortality Prevention Network Program – Washington

As part of the effort to prevent infant mortality, and to ensure all families are healthy and thriving, Public Health–Seattle & King County (PHSKC) is requesting applications from community-based organizations to provide services in conjunction with and to collaborate with the Infant Mortality Prevention Network (IMPN).

Details:

Best Starts is seeking to partner with community-based organizations to provide direct services and educational outreach as identified by community to support the health and well-being of babies, pregnant and parenting individuals, and families. The mission of the Infant Mortality Prevention Network is to eliminate the effects of systemic racism on infant mortality rates across King County by supporting communities that face the highest disparities and disproportionality in outcomes.

The mission of the IMPN is to eliminate the effects of systemic racism on infant mortality rates across King County among communities shown to be at the highest risk. In King County, the communities include African American, Native American, and Pacific Islander families.

Funding Information

PHSKC have budgeted approximately $473,000 for this project. This funding is expected to be spread across a minimum of four selected agencies to supplement and expand their existing Infant Mortality Prevention programs for the period of January 1, 2025 through December 31, 2025. This program is funded by three distinct sources:

  • Best Starts for Kids Levy funding will be distributed among all awardees who provide services anywhere in King County.
  • Public Health – Seattle & King County funding will be distributed among all awardees who provide services anywhere in King County.
  • City of Seattle funding will be distributed among awardees serving City of Seattle residents.

Eligibility Criteria 

This funding opportunity seeks to supplement and expand existing community-based programs and services across King County that support pregnant and parenting individuals, families, and communities. Best Starts is especially seeking to partner with community-led and community-informed organizations that are embedded in and reflective of King County’s African American, Native American, and Pacific Islander communities.
