Details:
The goal is to support a variety of wellness projects that centers young people’s ingenuity and creativity and give them the funding they need to bring their projects to fruition.
They invite youth-led groups to apply for funding to launch or expand activities, projects, or programs that support youth wellness. Selected project proposals will be:
- Centered on wellness. It must be clear how the proposed activities support the well-being of youth in Detroit.
- Youth-designed and youth-driven. At every stage, the proposal and planned activities should be initiated and directed by young people with adults involved in a supportive role.
- Youth-adult partnerships. Applying organizations should demonstrate a commitment to authentic youth-adult partnership that recognizes and values youth leadership and fosters mutual respect among youth and adults, and centers shared learning.
Grant Amount
- TIER I: Up to $10,000
- Time-limited or smaller scale projects
- Fund the purchase of materials, resources, or experiences related to youth wellness
- Project example: designing and outfitting a wellness room with art and sensory supplies, furniture, etc.
- TIER II: $10,000-$20,000
- Longer-term or larger scale projects
- Fund year-long programming or experiences related to youth wellness
- Project example: implementing a year-long wellness ambassador fellowship for youth
Who can Apply
Detroit-based youth-led groups are invited to apply for this opportunity. Organizations must meet all of the following criteria to apply for funding:
- Proposals must be designed and directed by a youth-led group of at least three young people up to age 22.
- Youth-led proposals will demonstrate how youth are responsible for designing the project proposal and in lead decision making roles to facilitation the direction and implementation of the proposed activities. Youth-led groups may look like a:
- youth advisory council
- youth-led organization
- group of youth leaders within a youth development or youth-serving organization
- Applying organizations much be an existing registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit or partnered with a 501(c)(3) fiduciary organization.
- Applying organizations must operate out of the City of Detroit and serve Detroit youth.
- Organizations may submit only one application.
This opportunity will not award grants to individuals or schools.
