The program focuses on benefiting low- and moderate-income persons, aiding in the prevention or elimination of slums and blight, and/or meeting community urgent needs. Eligible activities include acquisition of real property, demolition and rehabilitation of structures, construction of public facilities, provision of handicap access, historic preservation, community planning, and energy conservation.
The County anticipates receiving approximately $2.1 million of CDBG funding in Fiscal Year (FY) 2025. The amount of funding available is dependent upon the 2024 federal CDBG budget and HUD’s allocation formula. Of the total amount anticipated, approximately $1,680,000 will be awarded for public improvements, public services, housing and economic development activities.
Eligibility Criteria
CDBG projects must be implemented by a nonprofit organization, municipality, or other public agency. Organizations leasing a facility may request CDBG funds to improve the facility provided the property owner agrees to a restricted use of the property for a specified length of time.
Supplemental Applications:
- Public Service: A program or project seeking funds to pay for labor, supplies, and material to operate. This includes but is not limited to Employment and job development services, Health services, Senior citizen services, Homeless services, etc.
- Public Facility/Housing: A project seeking funds for acquisition, construction, reconstruction, rehabilitation, demolition, removal of architectural barriers to accessibility, or installation of accessible improvements.
- Economic Development: A project seeking funds to create or retain permanent jobs.
