With Byrne SCIP funding, the Michigan State Police (MSP) Grants and Community Services Division (GCSD) will provide grant awards to a unit of government in partnership with community-based organizations (CBO) to implement violence intervention and prevention programs, particularly those focusing on gun violence.

Funding Information
- All grants are funded on a reimbursement-only basis (award funds are provided as a reimbursement to the grantee for eligible expenditures documented and paid).
- Each applicant must request a minimum of $150,000 and may request up to $400,000 (including funding for a mandatory local evaluator and if applicable, funding for administrative fees for units of governments and/or CBOs).
Grant Period
The grant period for subawards to units of government is 20 months beginning April 1, 2025, and ending December 31, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be a unit of government. The unit of government must partner with one or more CBO (identified in the application) and develop a detailed program plan and budget for the project, as well as an official (signed) memorandum of agreement (MOA) between the entities that will be submitted with the application. Eligible programming must encompass intervention efforts throughout the entire project.
