To utilize CDBG funds most effectively to address the highest priority needs, the City has limited the award of CDBG funds to fewer than three projects that provide housing to extremely low, lowmoderate income, and special needs households, and social service activities addressing the Homeless or Special Needs goals.
National Objectives
All proposed projects must meet at least one of the three national objectives of the CDBG Program. The three national objectives are:
- Primarily benefit low- and moderate-income persons (at least 51% of beneficiaries must be low/mod income persons/households).
- Aid in prevention or elimination of slums or blight.
- Meet a particularly urgent community development need.
Goals
- Support services for homelessness outreach, prevention, and transition.
- Support housing and services for peoples with special needs.
- Support economic development activities that assist in reducing poverty among low-, moderate-income, and special needs populations.
- Improve safety and access in neighborhoods and areas throughout the City.
- Improve transportation options for low-income and special needs populations.
Funding Information
Under CDBG regulatory limits only 15% of the anticipated 2025 allocation is available for social services and thus such awards are limited to approximately $24,395.
