Mini-grants were created to provide funding for small community-based organizations (CBOs) whose work is crucial to the fabric of the communities they serve.

NewYork-Presbyterian’s mini-grants were created to provide funding opportunities for small community-based organizations (CBOs) whose work is crucial to the fabric of the communities they serve. they invite CBOs whose programming supports health and wellness for communities across New York City and Westchester County to apply, with priority given to those programs serving the neighborhoods of Crown Heights, Corona, Lower East Side/Chinatown, Washington Heights, Inwood, Harlem, Sunset Park, Bedford Stuyvesant, Flatbush, Yonkers, Ossining, Mt. Vernon, Peekskill, and White Plains. These neighborhoods were identified as part of the 2022 Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA). The CHNA provided an updated understanding of the needs, assets, and priorities of the local communities NewYork-Presbyterian serves.

Grant proposals have focused on a range of topics, including:

  • Nutrition and food insecurity
  • Urban gardening
  • Music and the arts
  • Sports and dance
  • Youth development.

Funding Information

The Mini-Grant is a three-year funding program with renewal opportunities starting after year one.

  • First year – $5,000.
  • Second year – up to $7,500.
  • Third year – up to $10,000.

Grant Period

This grant is a three-year funding opportunity.

Eligibility Criteria 

Organizations must adhere to the following criteria to be eligible:

  • Organization’s yearly operating budget does not exceed $500,000.
  • Must be a non-profit and provide proof of 501(c)(3) status at time of application submission.
    • Organizations who have not obtained 501(c)(3) status, but operate under a fiscal sponsor, may apply. Proof of fiscal sponsor is required at time of application submission.
  • Cannot be affiliated NewYork-Presbyterian Hospitals and regional facilities.
  • Project or program must serve Brooklyn, Queens, Lower Manhattan, Northern Manhattan, or Westchester County with priority given to those programs serving the neighborhoods of Crown Heights, Corona, Lower East Side/Chinatown, Washington Heights, Inwood, Harlem, Sunset Park, Bedford Stuyvesant, Flatbush, Yonkers, Ossining, Mt. Vernon, Peekskill, and White Plains.
  • Submissions must be health and wellness projects supporting healthy lifestyles for communities and individuals across New York City and Westchester County. Projects that address social determinants of health, such as housing insecurity or employment, are eligible.
