Types of Grant

  • The CDBG program provides funding for projects that benefit low- and moderate-income individuals and families, eliminate slum and blight conditions, and address urgent community needs. Eligible projects include housing rehabilitation, economic development, public facilities, and public infrastructure improvements
  • The HOME program provides funding for the development, acquisition, and rehabilitation of affordable housing for low- and moderate-income families. Eligible projects include the construction of new affordable housing units, rehabilitation of existing homes, and the acquisition of land for affordable housing development
  • The ESG program provides funding to help people experiencing or at risk of homelessness regain housing stability. Eligible projects include emergency shelter construction, rental assistance, and homeless prevention programs. Eligible projects include Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) administration, street outreach activities, emergency shelter operations, short-term rental assistance for those at-risk of homelessness, case management, and other supportive services.

Application Evaluation Criteria:

  • Community Need – The project should address an identified community need, such as affordable housing, public facilities or infrastructure, or emergency shelter and services for homeless individuals and families
  • Impact and Feasibility – The project should have a significant impact on the community and be feasible to implement within the available timeframe and budget
  • Capacity – The applicant should have the capacity to carry out the proposed project, including financial, technical, and administrative capacity
  • Partnerships and Collaboration – The applicant should demonstrate partnerships and collaboration with other organizations and stakeholders to ensure project success
  • Leveraging and Sustainability – The project should leverage other resources and have a plan for long-term sustainability.
