To develop a community means developing those within it, and TCF realizes that a community is only as strong as its residents. They believe the most effective way to improve overall quality of resident life is through enhancing community, opportunities, and resources. In doing so, a virtuous cycle of continual community improvement is created.
The Grants Program of the Troy Community Foundation is a means by which not-for profit charitable organizations may secure financial assistance for programs and/or projects which will enhance the quality of life for all residents of the Troy area and surrounding communities.

Grant Period
Grants are awarded only for a definite period of time, normally for twelve months or less.
Eligibility Criteria
- Only projects or programs in the city of Troy, Michigan are considered for support
- Grants may be made to:
- Any organization or individual delivering a project/ program focused on a charitable activity
- Nonprofit, federally tax exempt (501(c)(3)) qualified organizations.
Selection Criteria
Grant applications will be evaluated based on one or more of the following criteria:
- Innovation: Programs that demonstrate an organized and efficient approach to serving Troy community needs and opportunities
- Positive Impact: Programs that provide an immediate impact that is likely to make a clear difference in the quality of life for a substantial number of people
- Prudent Financial Planning: Grant applications requesting a moderate amount of grant money that will affect a significant result
- Seed Grants: Initiate promising new projects or programs to the Troy Community
- Unification: Ideas or programs that will enhance civil society and community engagement
- Volunteer Involvement: Programs enlisting volunteer participation and citizen involvement
- Unusual or Urgent Funding.
