Performing Arts Venue Improvement Grants support nonprofit performing arts organizations that own or hold a long-term lease (minimum 5 years remaining) of their Bexar County venue or have a lease of a City-owned facility. City-owned facilities have non-minimum lease terms. Grants are awarded every other year (alternating with the Performing Arts Production Costs Grants).
Performing Arts Venue Improvement Grants are limited to agencies that receive Operational Grant funding from the Department of Arts & Culture and will be limited in use for approved expenses related to improving a performing arts venue facility within Bexar County or purchase of equipment to improve the quality of productions/guest experience. This grant is funded by the City of San Antonio’s agreement with Ticketmaster through the Arts & Entertainment Enhancement Fund.
Funding Information
Organizations will receive up to $25,000 maximum in funding.
Grant Period
Contracts are for a 12-month period, beginning October 1, 2025, and ending September 30, 2026. Capital improvements and equipment purchases must be completed within the 12-month period.
Allowable Expenditures
The following expenses are allowed under this grant:
- Capital improvements
- Purchase of equipment.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicant must meet the following criteria:
- Must be an Operational grantee
- In good standing with Federal, State, City of San Antonio, and Department of Arts & Culture
- Be a Performing Arts Producing Organization located within San Antonio city limits
- Own or hold a long-term lease with at least five years remaining on the venue’s lease in Bexar county
- Only one application per organization is allowed per grant cycle, and only one application per facility is allowed.
