The Community Foundation Boulder County relies on a community-driven grant review process. Boulder County community members review grant applications and make funding recommendations. More than 80 Boulder County community members volunteer over 2,500 hours of their time reviewing proposals and recommending grants.

Efforts to make meaning, heal, and amplify ignored or unheard voices, improve society, and give us hope in times of hardship will be considered. They support work dedicated to access, inclusion, and strengthening of arts and culture for historically marginalized groups
- Civic Engagement
- Aids efforts that create an informed, inclusive, and engaged community with equitable outcomes for historically marginalized community members in Boulder County. They support work organized and designed by communities that result in collective actions to address community issues
- Education
- Supports educational growth and the advancement of students of all ages. They support work that addresses bias in education systems and efforts that ensure historically marginalized students succeed. Access to high quality early care and learning, equitable post-secondary pathways, and adult education will also be considered
- Environment
- Supports efforts that improve the environment and equitable outcomes for historically marginalized community members in Boulder County. This includes environmental education, enhancements, advocacy, energy conservation efforts, preventing the impacts of natural disasters, soil health initiatives, and efforts related to climate change
- Health and Human Services
- Provides core services for individuals and families across the County that address equity. This includes basic needs, such as food, housing, and material stability. Organizations that improve human well-being, such as behavioral health and physical health, will also be considered.
Funding Information
Community Trust grants range between $3,000 and $9,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Any nonprofit organization with an IRS 501(c)(3) public charities (not private nonoperating foundations) or any governmental or public entity can apply. Groups or organizations that do not have IRS 501(c)(3) designation may do so with a fiscal sponsor
- Grantees must use grant proceeds only for the stated purpose of the grant or for charitable and educational activities consistent with the organization’s tax-exempt status
- Grants from Community Trust are exclusively for activities or projects in Boulder County and/or for the benefit of people in Boulder County
- Community Foundation Boulder County does not make grants to organizations where grant money from discretionary or field of interest funds would be used to further a particular religious doctrine.
