Details:

KC G.I.F.T. is a full-service business center that provides Black business owners in Kansas City’s historically redlined neighborhoods with equitable access to financial support through grants, and provides free small business support to any small business in the Greater Kansas City area.

Types of Grant Tiers

  • $10,000 Grant
    • Designed to support and accelerate Black-owned businesses in Kansas City, MO.
  • $100,000 Grant.
    • The $100,000 G.I.F.T. Grant will be awarded to a high-performing, Black-owned business based in Kansas City, MO. This grant is designed to accelerate growth and help a business become a significant employer in the community.

Eligibility Criteria

  • $10K Grant Guidelines:
    • Business must be at least 51% Black-owned Located in Kansas City, MO (from 9th St. to Bannister, Troost to Hardesty),
    • Southeast Kansas City, Raytown, or Grandview.
    • Must have been generating revenue for at least 3 months.
    • Annual revenue must not exceed $1 million.
    • Must demonstrate potential to create jobs.
  • $100K Grant Guidelines
    • Must be at least 51% Black-owned.
    • Business must be located in Kansas City, MO, with preference given to businesses east of Troost Avenue.
    • Must have been generating revenue for at least 1 year.
    • Annual revenue must be at least $100,000.
    • Must employ 2 or more full-time W2 employees, not including the owner.
    • Must provide a Statement of Financial Activity.
    • If operating more than 2 years: submit 2023 and 2024 tax returns.
    • If operating 1 year: submit 2024 tax returns.
    • Past G.I.F.T. grant recipients may apply (no preferential treatment).
