Purpose

  • To steward a culture of giving and caring in the community.
  • To pursue strategic grant-making that benefits the community’s citizens, employees and students, and that is consistent with the intent of the donors.
  • To provide flexible and cost-effective ways for civic-minded individuals, families and companies to contribute to their community now and into the future.
  • To be good stewards of the resources entrusted to them.

Focus Areas

The Foundation Board of Trustees adopted four strategic areas of impact:

Eligibility Criteria

  • The New Albany Community Foundation may only award grants to registered 501c3 organizations that impact people within the Greater New Albany Community boundaries.
  • Grants are made to tax-exempt or 501(c)(3) organizations which are public charities and government agencies located within the Greater New Albany Community.
  • The Greater New Albany Community includes the following: The City of New Albany, the New Albany-Plain Local School District, the New Albany Business Park, and Plain Township.
  • To make the best use of available funds, the Foundation prioritizes meeting most of the following criteria when reviewing application requests:
    • The program/project positively impacts many people in the Greater New Albany Community boundaries, especially in the areas of lifelong learning, the arts, health and wellness and the environment
    • The proposed program/project will continue and expand beyond the grant period
    • The support from the Foundation would be vital or important to program/project success but not the sole funding source
    • The program/project is a well-planned approach to solving a problem and delivering services innovatively and efficiently
    • The program/project promotes cooperation among organizations including reduced expenses by sharing resources without duplication of service.
