The Social and Economic Development Strategies (SEDS) program promotes the social and economic self-sufficiency of American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and Native American Pacific Islanders from American Samoa, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
This program is focused on community-driven projects designed to grow local economies, strengthen Native American families, including the preservation of Native American cultures, and decrease the high rate of current challenges caused by the lack of community-based businesses, and social and economic infrastructure in Native American communities.
The Administration for Native Americans (ANA) provides project-specific funding and not ongoing program funding. The focus is funding community-driven projects to:
- Grow local economies.
- Support community-based businesses.
- Strengthen Native American families.
- Preserve Native American cultures.
- Increase social development and infrastructure in Native American communities.

- Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
- Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized)
- Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
- Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments).
