The purpose of these rules is to:
- establish eligibility requirements of the Louisiana Agricultural Workforce Development program
- establish eligibility requirements for agricultural businesses and interns for participation in the program
- establish application processes for agricultural businesses and intern candidates seeking approval to become program participants
- establish reimbursement of internship costs within the program
- establish processes for reimbursement of internship costs to participating agricultural businesses.
Funding Information
Participating businesses may receive reimbursement of up to 50% of the intern hiring costs, with a maximum award amount of $5,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible businesses include agricultural producers, entities engaged in agriculture, and those providing related support activities or services
- Agricultural businesses must meet the following eligibility requirements in order to be considered for the program. Agricultural business applicants shall:
- be physically located within the State of Louisiana
- provide an internship with a place of work located within the state of Louisiana
- have the ability to effectively supervise an intern
- offer the intern an opportunity to obtain meaningful work experience, including, but not limited to:
- Agribusiness
- Animal Husbandry
- Crop production
- Farm management
- Agronomy
- Natural resources
- Forestry
- Research and development
- Marketing and sales
- Food Safety and/or maintenance
- Repair of machinery and equipment.
