The Victoria S. and Bradley L. Geist Foundation funds organizations focused on preventing families and young people from entering the foster care system. Their support targets initiatives and services designed to strengthen families and protect children in Hawaii.
Grants typically range from $10,000 to $50,000 per year, with applications due by September 15, 2025. Eligible programs must address two or more key priorities, including aligning activities with child abuse and neglect protective factors or mitigating risk factors related to child abuse and neglect. They also support families experiencing homelessness or housing instability, especially those with children aged 0-5 years.
Programs that provide focused services for youth in foster care who are parents or expecting a child, offer family strengthening services for vulnerable families in Hawai‘i, or provide resource navigation and advocacy to families at risk of foster care placement are encouraged to apply.
To qualify, organizations must be tax-exempt entities operating in Hawai‘i, including nonprofits, 501(c)(3)s, religious groups, and government units. At least half of the people served must be families with young children aged 0-5. Applicants should demonstrate experience managing grant funds and show evidence of collaborative efforts with other service providers working with the target population.
