Ulster County is offering a grant to support capacity-building initiatives for nonprofit arts organizations. These initiatives are designed to help organizations enhance their operations and better fulfill their missions. The funding can help create new areas of work, develop strategies, or significantly improve existing programming.
Eligible organizations include those working in all expressive artistic disciplines such as visual, performing, written, digital, traditional, and experimental mediums. Funding requests can range from $2,500 to $7,500, and the funded initiatives must take place between September 1, 2025, and August 31, 2026.
The grant can support a variety of capacity-building activities. These include strategic planning or board development, hiring or expanding staff, capital improvements, technology upgrades, website enhancements, and audience or marketing plan development. Additionally, the initiative can fund diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion training, among other activities that improve the organization’s ability to deliver exceptional arts and cultural programming.
Ulster County encourages outreach to historically underserved groups. These are communities that may have limited access to arts programs due to factors such as location, race, economic status, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, disability, and more. The grant aims to foster inclusivity and access to arts programming for all residents and visitors in the county.
To apply, organizations must be a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a primary focus on arts and cultural services. Applicants must also have a permanent address or be incorporated in Ulster County, with at least three years of programming history. The organization must have a governing body, a non-discrimination policy, and must comply with the Nonprofit Revitalization Act of 2013.
