The New Salem Community Foundation is now accepting grant applications for projects that aim to enhance quality of life and strengthen the community in and around New Salem, North Dakota. The foundation supports nonprofit programs that bring long-term benefits to local residents.
Managed by a volunteer group of local citizens, the foundation focuses on growing its fund and awarding grants each year based on community needs. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, government agencies, or groups with a qualified fiscal sponsor. All applicants must serve Morton County, specifically New Salem and areas extending east toward Mandan.
There are two funding opportunities available this year. The regular grant round has $60,000 in funding, while a special one-time grant opportunity offers $924,000. Both share the same application deadline of September 29, 2025.
Grants will be given preference if they serve a large number of residents or demonstrate strong community impact. Requests for operating expenses or individual scholarships will be given low or no priority. Religious organizations may apply but only for non-sectarian projects that serve the broader community.
Final funding decisions, including whether a project is fully or partially funded, will be made at the discretion of the Advisory Committee. Extensions or additional deadlines may also be considered based on community needs.
