The Clarence Johnson & Eunice Iwen Community Endowment Fund, connected with the North Dakota Community Foundation, is now accepting grant applications. These grants are aimed at supporting youth and community projects in the Arthur, North Dakota area.
The fund is managed by local volunteers who focus on growing the fund and recommending grants on an annual basis. Applications are due by October 1, 2025. Although the grant size and duration are not specified, funding is available for eligible organizations.
To qualify, applicants must be government entities or nonprofit, tax-exempt groups under IRS code 501(c)(3). Grants must directly benefit the Arthur area, as determined by the Advisory Board. Funding will not be awarded to individuals. Religious organizations may receive grants only for non-denominational, community-wide activities. Routine operational expenses receive lower priority, and multi-year requests typically cannot exceed five years.
When making decisions, the Advisory Board considers several factors, including the project’s impact, the number of people it benefits, and the broader effect on the community. Other considerations include community support, both financial and in-kind, as well as the strength of the organization’s management and local involvement in the initiative.
