The City of San Diego is now accepting applications for its Community Projects, Programs, and Services Funding Program. The Fiscal Year 2026 budget has allocated $900,000 for this initiative. This amount is divided equally among the nine Council Offices, with each office managing a discretionary fund of $100,000 and making individual grant funding decisions.
Council Offices can use their CPPS funding in two distinct ways to support local projects. Past examples include Mama’s Kitchen’s medically tailored meal service, a memorial plaque at Valencia Park Elementary through the San Diego Unified School District, Nowruz Persian New Year celebrations by the Persian Cultural Center, IT and software support with street banners by the Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce, and a youth program director position at the Somali Bantu Association of America.
The grant period runs from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026. Funding can be used for capital improvements on private property, purchasing or maintaining equipment and supplies—including technology and educational services—and staging community programming or events that are social, environmental, educational, cultural, or recreational in nature.
Funds may also cover the purchase of food or beverages when provided to individuals or families in need, and support ongoing operational expenses. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, public agencies, and City departments working on projects, programs, and services that serve a lawful public purpose benefiting San Diego’s neighborhoods and communities.
