The Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement (ONSE) is now accepting applications for its 2025 Consolidated Grief Support and Gun-Violence Prevention Mini-Grant Program. This opportunity offers grants ranging from $100,000 to $500,000, with a grant duration of less than one year.
ONSE’s mission is to promote community-based strategies that prevent violence and improve public safety. The program plans to award up to twenty-five grants focused on two areas: grief and bereavement support, with grants up to $100,000, and violence prevention, with grants up to $150,000.
The grant period will run from August 1 to September 30, 2025. The funding specifically targets youth aged 8 to 17 and young adults aged 18 to 35 who are at high risk of violence and often do not have access to or are resistant to other services.
Eligible applicants include community-based nonprofit organizations, clergy groups, individuals, or small businesses operating in the District of Columbia. Applicants must hold a valid DC business license and have a history of providing services within the district. For-profit organizations may apply but cannot include profit in their grant proposals and can also participate as subcontractors to eligible applicants.
