Tompkins County is offering Community Celebration Grants to support nonprofit organizations and municipalities in hosting public events that highlight the area’s rich culture and heritage. These grants are designed to bring people together through inclusive community celebrations.
The Fall 2025 funding pool totals $11,050, with individual grant awards ranging from $500 to $2,500. These funds are intended to support free, public events that foster community spirit and engagement.
Past supported events include International Mud Day, Porchfest, the GIAC Festival of Nations, the Ithaca Pride Festival, Trumansburg Winterfest, and the Latino Civic Association Annual Picnic. These examples showcase the diversity and creativity of the region’s cultural celebrations.
Grants can be used for a variety of event-related expenses such as hiring local artists and performers, marketing and promotion, educational materials, professional services, and sustainable event materials like reusable banners or composting supplies.
Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, municipalities within Tompkins County, and other groups with an eligible fiscal sponsor. Events must take place within Tompkins County, be open to the public, include at least one free component, and avoid promoting religious or political agendas. They also must not require a New York State Mass Gathering Permit.
The deadline to apply is August 25, 2025.
