The Fund for Excellence in Education Grants provides funding opportunities for classroom teachers in Dutchess, Putnam, and Ulster counties. These grants support special classroom projects or professional development initiatives aimed at improving educational outcomes.
Grants range from $1,000 to $2,500, with most awards falling between $1,000 and $1,500. They are designed to have a direct impact on classroom learning and are open to all K-12 teachers in public, private, and parochial schools within these counties. The funding can be used for classroom projects that enhance student learning opportunities or for professional development that enhances teachers’ skills and knowledge. However, the grants are not intended to cover expenses related to Master’s programs or certification requirements, and travel expenses are ineligible.
In addition to the general grants, there are special opportunities for public school teachers. The Writing Grant supports professional development for teaching writing or specific projects to improve students’ writing abilities. The Marionette/Puppet Grant funds projects that incorporate marionettes and puppets into the curriculum, with a preference for multi-cultural or multi-disciplinary themes. Another unique opportunity is the Dennis Markle Memorial Community Service Grant, available for projects that engage students in community service, such as projects involving senior citizens, veterans, or disadvantaged populations.
The application deadline for these grants is December 15, 2025, offering teachers a great opportunity to secure funding for innovative educational projects.
