The Toledo Walleye Hockey Club’s Walleye Wishing Well Fund, part of the Greater Toledo Community Foundation, is inviting nonprofit organizations to submit proposals. The focus is on programming that promotes the overall fitness and wellness of children in kindergarten through twelfth grade.
Grants range from $1,000 to $10,000, with multiple awards expected. Funds are to support activities during the cold weather months that encourage healthy lifestyles, exercise, sports, or physical fitness education. Programs can take place indoors or outdoors and should ideally include an educational component teaching skills related to healthy living.
Eligible uses for the funds include enrollment fees, transportation, equipment, uniforms, and program materials. The grant can also cover costs for maintaining or rehabilitating sports venues like baseball diamonds or football fields. Funding is competitive, and priority will be given to projects not previously supported by the Walleye Wishing Well Fund.
Applicants must be nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. Organizations that receive support from the Helping Hens Fund in the same year are not eligible. The grant deadline is August 1, 2025, and funding should not be relied upon as a yearly source of support.
