The WaterWorks Grant Program offers about $5 million in funding every two years to support water quality improvement projects within King County’s regional wastewater service area in Washington. The grants are provided by King County and can exceed $1 million, with the application deadline set for July 29, 2025.
Projects eligible for funding include community engagement and stewardship, education, outreach, pollution prevention, and best management practices focused on source control. Other qualifying activities are green stormwater infrastructure like rain gardens and cisterns, habitat restoration in riparian zones, water quality assessments, monitoring, science and research, social marketing campaigns aimed at behavior change, technology development, demonstration projects, and planning or design related to these efforts.
Eligible applicants for the WaterWorks grants include nonprofit organizations such as associations, community groups, and 501(c)(3) entities. Schools, educational institutions, cities and counties (excluding King County DNRP), special purpose districts, and tribes may also apply.
