The Advanced Industries Proof of Concept Grant is a funding opportunity designed to help Colorado research institutions accelerate applied research and bring advanced industry innovations to market. The program focuses on bridging the gap between early research and the commercialization of products and services in partnership with the private sector.
This grant supports projects that are ready to move beyond basic research and into pre-commercial stages. The funding must be used for work that drives commercialization efforts forward, such as developing prototypes, securing intellectual property, validating technologies, and assessing market potential.
Grants can go up to $150,000 per project. The program encourages collaborations between multiple research institutions and partnerships with Colorado-based businesses in the advanced industries sector. Projects that originate from nonprofit research institutions are given priority.
Eligible projects must involve disruptive technologies with direct applications in one or more of Colorado’s advanced industries. The initiative also requires a financial commitment: applicants must match every dollar of State funding with at least 33 cents of non-State funding.
This grant is administered by the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT), with applications due by August 28, 2025.
