The Kauffman Foundation is inviting research proposals that focus on expanding equitable economic mobility and increasing opportunity in Kansas and Missouri. This round of Research Grants aims to fund projects that deepen understanding of key strategic priorities and translate findings into practical solutions.
Grants range from $100,000 to $500,000, with budgets starting at $150,000 per year. The foundation is particularly interested in research that addresses college access and completion, workforce and career development, and entrepreneurship—areas identified for their potential to advance economic mobility.
Proposals should explore innovative ways to close economic mobility gaps, including studies on equitable mobility in critical sectors, the impact of emerging technologies, and improving data access. Projects must have the potential to influence understanding or conditions in the Kansas City region.
The foundation does not fund bricks and mortar projects, endowments, institutions that discriminate, business loans or seed capital, lobbying or political activities, medical services, social or fraternal organizations, religious activities, or scholarships for individuals. The deadline to apply is August 10, 2025.
