King County’s Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) is excited to announce a new funding opportunity to support rural, community-driven behavioral health services in unincorporated areas of King County.

Details:

This RFP seeks to fund organizations located in, or serving communities adjacent to, King County’s rural Community Service Areas (CSA). Eligible applicants must provide behavioral health services including but not limited to prevention, recovery support, peer-based services, and care coordination with a specific emphasis on reducing geographic barriers to care. Funded programs should increase access to publicly funded behavioral health services for rural residents through community-informed, and culturally responsive approaches. Grants under the MIDD SI-02 initiative will be awarded to local non-profit Community-Based Organizations, non-profit coalitions, indigenous organizations, schools, or public agencies that are embedded in communities specifically located in and/or serving communities in rural and unincorporated King County.

This includes six of the seven CSAs in King County:

  • Bear Creek/Sammamish
  • Snoqualmie Valley/Northeast King County
  • Four Creeks/Tiger Mountain
  • Greater Maple Valley/Cedar River
  • Southeast King County
  • Vashon/Maury Island

Funding Information

  • Up to $2,120,000 is available.
  • Applicants are invited to submit a proposal in response to one of the following options:
    • Option 1: Behavioral Health Services in Rural King County: (Up to $1,720,000 is available for the full investment period, from January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2027, to support prevention, recovery support, peer-based services, and care coordination).
    • Option 2: Mobile Behavioral Health Services in Rural King County: (Up to $400,000 is available for the investment period, from January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2027, to support mobile van services).
  • January 1, 2026 and to end on December 31, 2027.

Eligibility Criteria

Proposals are invited from nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations, community-based organizations, Tribes and Tribal organizations, and public or governmental agencies serving communities within rural King County. Small nonprofits and grassroots organizations are especially encouraged to apply.
