The Lumber Heritage Region (LHR) proudly supports projects that celebrate and enhance the region’s rich history, vibrant culture, outdoor recreation, and conservation efforts. The grant programs focus on projects where these themes intersect, fostering initiatives that make a lasting impact across the communities.
Funding Information
LHR Mini Grants typically award a maximum of $5,000 with a required 50/50 grant match (Awardees must match 50% of total grant award, which may be provided as cash and/or in-kind contributions). Projects requesting funds exceeding $5,000 will be considered on a case by case basis.
Eligible Activities
Eligible activities for mini-grant funding include but are NOT limited to:
- Educational resources promoting the forest products industry and regional heritage.
- Projects highlighting history, diversity, and recreational opportunities in the region.
- Outdoor recreation projects aligned with LHR themes.
- Packaged itineraries and tourism products.
- Elements from existing plans like trails, watersheds, and greenways.
- Projects inspired by the LHR’s Uncovering The Roots initiatives.
- Interpretive panels focusing on history, heritage, forest sustainability, and jobs in the forest products industry.
- Projects increasing access to recreational areas and amenities.
- Community programs that use nature to boost well-being and reduce health disparities.
