Gaithersburg is among the largest cities in the State of Maryland, with a population in excess of 69,000, occupying more than 10 square miles within Montgomery County. The City provides many services including police protection, licensing and permitting, building inspections, recreation and cultural activities, street maintenance, recycling collection, stormwater management, housing and community development, and snow removal.
Service Areas Eligible for Funding
To be eligible for funding consideration, applicants must propose the provision of in-person and/or virtual, individual and/or group programming in at least one of the following areas:
- Medical Services
- Mental Health Services
- Food Services
- Housing Preservation
- Vocational Assistance
- Older Adult and People with Disabilities Support.
Funding information
The maximum funding amount for the Community Service Grant Program is $769,195 (for all service areas). The minimum award amount that an applicant may request is $5,000.
Grant Period
The contract period shall be from the date of award, July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027.
Eligible Use of Funds
Funds under this NOFO may be used for:
- salary and fringe benefits for personnel assigned to this grant;
- travel and training expenses for personnel assigned to this grant; and/or
- program supplies, materials, and equipment, and limited administrative and indirect costs.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be registered with the State Department of Assessments and Taxation, in good standing, and authorized to provide services in the state of Maryland.
- Must have at least five (5) years’ experience providing services as outlined in this solicitation.
- Must be an approved not-for-profit 501(c)(3) or 509(a)(1) organization and show proof of nonprofit designation.
- All awardees need to conduct outreach and/or service delivery within the incorporated limits of the City of Gaithersburg.
