Resilient Regional Grant Program – New Jersey

Dated: September 15, 2025

The Resilient NJ program, administered through DEP’s Office Climate Resilience, is providing the opportunity for New Jersey municipalities to apply to participate in collaborative regional planning efforts that support the development of regional resilience action plans.

Donor Name: New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP)

State: New Jersey

County: All Counties

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline: 10/14/2025

Size of the Grant: $100,000 to $500,000

Grant Duration: Grant Duration Not Mentioned

Details:

The overall purpose of the Resilient NJ: Regional Assistance Program is to fund collaborative regional planning efforts that support the development of regional resilience action plans to increase resilience, build local capacity, and allow local governments to address their needs while enhancing the value and integrity of ecological, economic, recreational, and natural resources in their communities. Regions will develop and implement resilience actions to reduce risk and increase the region’s overall resilience in the short-, mid-, and long term. The program seeks to have regions and municipalities shape the future of their community character and vision by strengthening the region’s understanding of climate change impacts based on the best available data and science, and using innovative and transformational strategies, design standards, and solutions. Action plans may also support successful applications for other state and federal grant opportunities.

Funding Information

It is estimated that grants may be awarded between $200,000 to $300,000 for each region, including up to $150,000 of that award set aside for CBOs.

Eligibility Criteria

Municipalities may feel they’ve undergone several planning efforts before and wonder why they should engage in another planning effort. The Resilient NJ: Regional Assistance Program offers a valuable opportunity to:

  • Build on local governments’ existing work while focusing on collaboration within selfdetermined regions, making it easier to address issues that extend along shared shorelines, watersheds, infrastructure systems, and economies.
  • Identify shared resources, consider shared services, and develop solutions at an appropriate scale to address the risk posed by climate-related hazards such as flooding, wildfire, and extreme heat.
  • Support communities interested in exploring and implementing innovative and transformational resilience solutions that address current and future climate impacts from manmade and natural hazards.
  • Utilize dedicated funding for Regional Teams to implement planning actions identified in their action plan, furthering their resilience goals identified throughout the planning process.
