The Stellantis Impact Neighborhood Fund was created as a provision of the Community Benefits Agreement for the 2019 expansion of the Stellantis (formerly FCA) Mack Avenue Assembly Plant. The use of this fund was determined through intensive resident engagement during the Greater Warren/Conner Neighborhood Framework in 2023 and 2024. In order to support the work of local community organizations to improve quality of life in their neighborhood, the Neighborhood Beautification Program will utilize $198,000 of the fund for projects in the Stellantis CBO Impact Area.
Applicants to the Stellantis Impact Neighborhood Fund are highly encouraged to propose projects and programs that respond to and advance the recommendations of the Greater Warren/Conner Neighborhood Framework, specifically in the areas of neighborhood stabilization, resilience zone implementation, commercial and economic development, mobility and streets, parks and open space, and climate resilience and health equity.
Objectives
Awarded Beneficiaries will partner with Wayne Metro, and the City of Detroit to achieve the following objectives:
- Mitigate the impacts of the COVID-19 and improve social determinants of health in disproportionately affected communities by increasing the quality and amount of green spaces
- Advance equity and inclusion by supporting community-driven improvement projects in underserved neighborhoods
- Decrease amount of blight in underserved neighborhoods, while increasing beautifying physical components
- Increase number of outdoor gathering spaces in neighborhoods leading to greater community cohesion.
Funding Information
Grants between $5,000 and $10,000 are available to fund 20 to 40 projects in the Stellantis CBO Impact Area.
Project Eligibility
- Stellantis Impact Neighborhood Fund grants may be used towards two categories of projects:
- Beautification projects such as:
- Community gardens, public space improvements, clean-up activities
- Community programming in topics such as:
- Gardening, health/fitness, life skills, community safety & awareness
- NOTE: The Stellantis program requires submission of the same documentation as beautification applicants, excluding the deed and plot plan. Instead, the programming scope requirements should include:
- Project curriculum
- Priority topic
- Event dates, times, and location.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicant must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible for funding:
- Applicant must be a Detroit neighborhood organization that falls into one of the following categories:
- City Registered Neighborhood Association or Block Club that has 501c(3) tax exempt status
- An LLC that partners with a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving as its fiduciary.
- Nonprofit organizations or Faith-based organizations working in partnership with a City Registered Neighborhood Association or Block club within 1 mile of their facility.
