RMFU has secured funding to distribute up to $160,000 in microgrants to producers within membership area of Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico with the goal of assisting producers in implementing regenerative practices that improve soil health and build resilience while also strengthening local and regional institutional markets.
Funding Information
Farms will be eligible for one of two tiers of grants based on gross farm income:
- Farms with a gross income of $15,000 – $100,000 will be eligible for grants of up to $5,000.
- Farms with a gross income of over $100,000 will be eligible for grants of up to $15,000.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a producer operating in Colorado, New Mexico, or Wyoming.
- Be a small- or mid-sized farm or ranch
- Be able to report on measurable outcomes
- Be engaged in, or committed to transitioning to, environmentally regenerative practices
- Examples of eligible expenses that may be covered by this grant include but are not limited to:
- Cover cropping
- Crop rotation and alternative forages
- Managed grazing and livestock integration
- Biological soil amendments
- No-till practices
- Infrastructure, tools, and input investments that make regenerative techniques possible
- Ineligible expenses include labor and irrigation expenses
- Strong preference will be given to producers serving local or regional institutional markets, or implementing a plan to do so (e.g., schools, hospitals, food banks)
Scoring Considerations
Within the farm’s eligible tier, grant awards will be determined by:
- Alignment with regenerative agricultural practices
- Participation in local food access programs
- Quality and feasibility of the grant proposal
- Acreage impacted.
