Details:
This program’s primary goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the state’s transportation sector by increasing the use of bikes for delivery and commercial services. The shift to bikes will also reduce reliance on fossil fuel vehicles, ease traffic congestion, and improve local air quality, especially in those communities most impacted by vehicle pollution.
Eligible Projects
This grant offers funding to purchase new bicycles and electric-assisted bicycles. To qualify, the bicycles or e-bikes must be actively used for one or both of the following purposes:
- delivery services: moving property or goods
- commercial services: moving equipment, supplies, or tools for installation, repair, or maintenance job
You may also include the cost of certain accessories in your request. You can ask for up to $200 per new bike or e-bike for these items. Eligible accessories include:
- bike helmets
- bike lights
- locks
- luggage racks
- baskets
- cargo trailers
- panniers/bags/backpacks
Using bikes for local deliveries and offering services to homes is a smart and sustainable choice that benefits your business and community:
- saves money: You can cut costs on vehicle fuel, insurance, and routine maintenance
- cleaner communities: You can help make local areas cleaner and quieter by lowering noise and air pollution
Electric-assisted cargo bikes can be customized with lockable boxes, front racks, and rear trailers to meet your carrying needs. This lets you safely move a range of large and small items, such as:
- food and beverages (groceries, specialty foods, and coffee)
- catering supplies (flowers, prepared meals, and baked goods)
- construction equipment (tools, material samples)
- maintenance and repair supplies (for plumbing, electrical, and handyman services)
- mail, packages, and last-mile retail goods for local delivery
