This new funding opportunity will support early-stage small businesses owners in all industries, including home-based businesses. Grant funds will support an eligible business’s start-up expenses, such as licensing, equipment purchase, staff training, loan down payments, or other activities that help support the launch, of a new business.
Funding Information
Up to 20 grants totaling $150,000 will be awarded:
- 10 grants of $10,000
- 10 grants of $5,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Registered in San José and with a business tax certificate less than 3 years’ old
- Business owners must both operate their business and reside within the City of San José
- A for-profit business
- Maximum up to 35 employees
- Commit to using funds for business startup purposes
- Are open to participate in required advising or training sessions
- Are not a business selling tobacco, cannabis or liquor.
