Publicly Accessible Art Restoration Grants – Arizona

The City of Flagstaff, through its Beautification and Public Art Commission, seeks grant applications for the restoration of existing publicly accessible art.

Details:

The publicly accessible art needs to have been originally funded by a Beautification in Action grant or with private monies. Projects must be for the significant refurbishment or repair of publicly accessible art that have been completed at least three (3) years prior, or have been subject to significant damage. Artists, community members, schools, local businesses, nonprofits, and more are eligible to apply.

Funding Information

  • Grants of up to $7,500 per project are available.
  • For instance, if a grant is sought for $7,500, the applicant must have a project of $15,000 minimum and bring the remaining resources whether in dollars or in-kind services.
  • Up to $3,250 of the grant award may be used for artist/contractor/labor fees.

Grant Period

July 1st, 2026 to June 30, 2027.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Groups of individuals, community groups, not-for-profit organizations, businesses, and educational institutions with direct student participation are invited to apply and will be prioritized throughout the review process
  • Grants will NOT be awarded to:
    • Political or partisan groups, exclusive clubs or associations.
    • Applicants who have failed to successfully carry out a previous grant project, unless appropriate justification is made.
    • Applicants that discriminate based on race, color, religion, gender, age, citizenship, nondisqualifying disability, national origin, or sexual orientation.
    • Applicants that do not have matching funds.
    • Applicants whose publicly accessible art has been up for less than (3) three years without a significant damaging event.
    • Applicants that allocate more than $3,250 to artist/contractor time.
    • Community gardens or landscaping. Decorative signs or art within the garden are eligible.
  • Any Eligible Applicant may work with a non-eligible entity in order to complete or carry out the project. For example, an Eligible Applicant may obtain an easement from a religious institution to perform restoration of publicly accessible art that was created by an eligible applicant.
