Details:

United Way of Greater Fall River’s Impact Grant process is designed to fund smaller, new, and/or innovative programs that fill identified gaps in service in Greater Fall River that create a Healthy Community, Youth Opportunity, and Financial Security. The programs funded by this process align with needs identified in local Community Health Needs Assessments and with United Way Worldwide goals. Community Resiliency-related grants that support basic needs are funded through a different application process and are not reviewed at this time.

To achieve the goals, United Way of Greater Fall River will focus the resources on a limited set of investment areas where organizations can make the greatest impact and contribute to significant outcomes in the lives of the individuals in the community.

Objectives

United Way of Greater Fall River (UWGFR) provides equitable and sustainable solutions that address gaps and disparities to ensure that every person has access to the resources needed to thrive by mobilizing people to invest in the community where their resources are needed most. UWGFR aims to unite all segments of the community, through a well-developed communications program and fundraising campaign that promotes and encourages the private sector, individuals, and corporations to maintain a major role in the funding of health and human service education, prevention, and support programs within the community. From strengthening local resilience to advancing health, youth opportunity, and financial security, they are working towards a future where every person in every community can reach their full potential.

Selected programs and initiatives help strengthen local resilience by increasing access to quality education and youth opportunities, improving health outcomes, and promoting financial security for all.

Eligibility Criteria

  • 501c3 nonprofit health and human service agencies within the United Way of Greater Fall River (UWGFR) service area are invited to apply for Impact Grant funding. Food and Basic Need distribution partners are NOT eligible for this grant as there is a separate grant funding stream specific to this need. The service area includes Assonet, Fall River, Somerset, Swansea, Westport, MA and Tiverton and Little Compton, RI.
  • Community Impact work is the process by which local United Ways create positive community change to improve the lives of residents and address underlying issues. United Way of Greater Fall River will consider one (1) funding request annually per agency, up to $10,000. Agencies that utilize a common fiscal agent are welcome to apply.
  • Programs must align with one or more of United Way of Greater Fall River’s key impact areas: Healthy Community, Youth Opportunity, and/or Financial Security, and demonstrate deep impact on individuals and families. Applicants are encouraged to use data to demonstrate the need for the program in the community.
  • Special consideration will be given to programs that foster collaboration and eliminate duplication, help build capacity, target underserved or marginalized populations and promote equity. Agencies should consider the United Way Worldwide Impact Areas in their program submission.
