Through this grant opportunity, the City of Urbana seeks to fund programs and services that meet the documented needs of low-income Urbana residents, with the goal of having a lasting impact on the community. This grant opportunity focuses on the following key service areas:

Funding Information
In 2027 a total of $588,000 is available for grants through the Community Services program. Included in this $588,000 total is $200,000 set-aside for organizations providing resources and services to domestic violence victims and $100,000 set-aside for organizations providing immigrant services, which only organizations providing these services will be considered for. The remaining $288,000 is available for programs in other eligible service areas. Individual award amounts will vary on a case-by-case basis. Most awards are anticipated to range between $15,000 and $75,000, but applications for other amounts will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027.
Eligibility Criteria
The following activities are eligible under the Community Services Grant Program:
- Personnel costs (staff salaries, wages).
- Program materials & supplies.
- Travel costs directly associated with operation of the program.
- Rent/utility payments (not to exceed three months of assistance).
- Instruction costs.
- Facility rental directly associated with operation of the program.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant organizations must not be debarred and suspended from working on government contracts according to the System for Award Management (SAM.gov).
- Applicant must have certificate of Good Standing with State of Illinois.
- Applicant organization must not be delinquent on federal or state taxes or owe funds to the City of Urbana.
