Donor Name: City of Gilroy

State: California

City: Gilroy

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline: 03/02/2026

Size of the Grant: $1000 to $10,000

Grant Duration: 1 Year

Details:

The City anticipates receiving approximately $400,000 in CDBG funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to be allocated to eligible PY 2026-2027 activities. The CDBG Program is designed to support activities that (1) benefit low- and moderate-income persons, (2) aid in the prevention of slums or blight, and (3) meet an urgent community need. Through this NOFA, the City invites nonprofit organizations to apply for eligible activities that primarily benefit low- and moderate-income individuals or households earning no more than 80% of the area median income for Santa Clara County. HUD limits the amount of CDBG funding that may be used for public service activities to 15% of the City’s annual CDBG allocation. Funding is contingent upon HUD’s allocation of CDBG funds and is subject to any new or revised federal requirements governing the use of those funds.

Funding Information

  • The minimum grant amount is $7,500.
  • The program year will run from July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027.

Uses of funds

  • CDBG funding for program year 2026-2027 cannot be spent or obligated prior to the project start date identified in the executed agreement with the City of Gilroy.
  • Eligible expenses for public service activities are salary and benefits.
  • Eligible expenses for rehabilitation activities are salary, benefits, and direct costs.
  • Eligible expenses for a Capital Improvement Project (CIP) will be provided upon request.

Eligibility Criteria

Nonprofit organizations may apply for funding to carry out eligible activities that benefit low- and moderate-income (LMI) residents living within the Gilroy city limits.
