The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) is seeking applications for its Victims of Child Abuse Act Training and Technical Assistance for Child Abuse Prosecutors.

Details:

This NOFO will support attorneys who improve the quality of investigation and criminal prosecution of child abuse cases, including child physical abuse, child sexual abuse, technology-facilitated child exploitation, and child fatalities. Support will be provided to entry level, mid-career, and seasoned prosecutors who prosecute child abuse cases in juvenile and adult courts on a variety of topics, including child interview techniques, thorough investigative methods, and effective presentation of evidence in court.

Goals and Objectives 

Goal: Improve the quality of criminal investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases.

  • Objective 1: Develop and provide training and other resources (e.g. one-pagers, factsheets, briefing papers, and toolkits) to local and state prosecutors involved in child abuse cases to improve the quality of criminal prosecution of such cases.
  • Objective 2: Develop new publications and resources, as needed, that are responsive to emerging issues and case law for local and state prosecutors involved in child abuse cases to improve the quality of criminal prosecution of such cases.
  • Objective 3: Coordinate training and assistance with other OJJDP-funded VOCA programs to maximize efficient use of resources and avoid duplication of effort.
