They believe that every child deserves a good early start to their life. Research demonstrates the importance of early childhood experiences on cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development and on outcomes for children, families and the community.
They provide grants that support children prenatal to five and the family members, caregivers and other caring adults who can help get them off to the best possible early start in life. Direct service, systems level work, and advocacy will all be considered. Nonprofit organizations, schools, 3K and 4K programs, nonprofit childcare centers, and tribal and governmental entities are all eligible.
Preference will be given to proposals that are one or more of the following:
- Collaborative
- Preventative or offer upstream solutions
- Innovative
- Use two-generation or whole family approaches
- Remove barriers to access for children from marginalized backgrounds.

Eligibility Criteria
- Organizations eligible to receive grants from the Foundation are generally those determined by the IRS to be public charities. Such organizations include:
- Most charitable, scientific, social service, educational, and religious organizations described in Section 501(c)(3) and 509(a)(1), (a)(2), or (a)(3) of the tax code, as well as private operating foundations.
- Grants may also be made to government entities and instrumentalities (this includes schools, municipalities, and Native American tribal governments) for public purposes.
- Organizations that do not fall in these categories are generally ineligible unless they apply through a fiscal sponsor, (see the Fiscal Sponsorship Policy) or meet other eligibility requirements. In some circumstances, grants may be made to other types of organizations as long as the grant is restricted and structured for charitable purposes.
