Details:
Following its successful inaugural launch last year, Beyond the Beige—a joint initiative between the Municipality and the Anchorage Community Development Authority (ACDA)—returns for 2026. This grant program seeks to add vibrant and engaging artwork to Anchorage’s public spaces and promote collaboration between organizations.
Together, the Mayor and ACDA are seeking proposals that include two or more organizations working together on a project. Projects should bring color to a public place or across multiple neighborhoods through murals, public art installations, façade improvements and more.
Funding Information
Maximum Award Amount: Applicants may request up to $50,000. Requests exceeding $50,000 will not be considered.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Primary Organization applicant / officer must be a resident of the Municipality of Anchorage, and all participating organizations must have a physical location in the State of Alaska.
- Surface or area for the project must be located in the MoA and be accessible and free of cost to the public.
- The Primary Organization must have a written agreement with the owner of the surface or area intended for the project.
- If the surface is on a business property, the property may not have any expired permits with the MoA at the award of the grant.
- The project must comply with all MoA laws, including building code, sign regulations, and zoning ordinances.
- The project cannot constitute a tripping hazard or obstruct pedestrian access.
- Projects proposed for installation on any property owned or managed by the Municipality of Anchorage (MOA), including parks and other properties under the jurisdiction of the MOA Parks and Recreation Department, are subject to review and approval by the MOA.
- Monthly financial and progress reports are required for all active projects. This reporting requirement will be suspended during winter months or during any period when seasonal conditions prevent work from moving forward.
